Tornado Touches Down In Yarmouth

A tornado touched down in Yarmouth this afternoon, following severe rain and wind on Cape Cod.

The National Weather Service confirmed the touchdown a little past noon in South Yarmouth, where wind gusts on some parts of the Cape reached 90 miles per hour.

Tens of thousands of customers are without power, mostly concentrated on the outer Cape — that includes more than half of all customers in Harwich and Chatham.
