What does a neighborhood bar mean? To many they're community, connection and belonging.

So what's lost when a neighborhood bar closes, turned into upscale eateries and condos? It's a trend we're seeing all over Boston — Brighton's Green Briar in May, Roxbury's Sonny Walker's and Cambridge's Paradise both last year, among many others.

Guests

Gabriel O'Malley, co-owner of The Plough and Stars in Cambridge. His Boston Magazine piece is "Death Of The Neighborhood Bar."

Nia Grace, proprietor and general manager of Darryl's Corner Bar & Kitchen in the South End.

This segment aired on August 22, 2019.
