Boston University has suspended 12 students for attending non-socially distanced parties this month. The university is also implementing new protocols for campus access for students.

This follows Boston Public Schools going all remote Thursday after a significant uptick in positive test rates in the city, and Gov. Charlie Baker discouraging traditional Thanksgiving gatherings.

With a growing number of cities and towns in the red, and concern over the spread caused by private gatherings, we check in with Dr. David Hamer. He's a specialist in infectious diseases, and a professor of Global Health at BU's School of Public Health and School of Medicine.

This segment aired on October 22, 2020.
