We have reached another grim milestone in the pandemic: half a million Americans have died from COVID-19.

Even as we mark this moment, there seem to be promising signs on the horizon: here in Massachusetts, cases are trending downward and the average test positivity rate dropped below 2 percent.

We take listener calls with Dr. Helen Boucher, Chief of Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical Center and a professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine, and Dr. Davidson Hamer, professor of infectious diseases and medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine and a professor at Boston University School of Public Health.

This segment aired on February 23, 2021.
