Rachael Rollins will officially become the first Black woman to serve as U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts.

It comes after a fiery confirmation process and fierce Republican opposition to the progressive Suffolk County district attorney.

We discuss with Nancy Gertner — retired federal judge, senior lecturer at Harvard Law School, and WBUR's legal analyst.

She also led the search committee appointed by Sens. Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren to nominate the next U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts.

This segment aired on December 8, 2021.
