This is the Radio Boston rundown for March 8. Tiziana Dearing is our host.

  • On Wednesday, the state Supreme Judicial Court will hear a case focused on physician-assisted death. First, we talk with the plaintiff, Dr. Roger Kligler. He's a retired physician who has been living with cancer for 20 years and has been spending his retirement advocating for patient rights to access medical aid in dying. Then, we discuss the legal arguments at play with Wendy Parmet, the Matthews University Distinguished Professor of Law and faculty co-director of the Center for Health Policy and Law at Northeastern University School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs.
  • President Biden recently appointed David Cash, former Dean and Associate Professor at the UMass Boston McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, the new Regional Administrator for Region 1 of the EPA. That means Cash will oversee Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and 10 Tribal Nations for the agency. We talk with Cash about how he'll approach the job and what his priorities will be for the region.
  • With gas prices skyrocketing, and warmer weather coming, we wanted to revisit a conversation we had on Radio Boston examining the American road trip. It's a central part of the American identity, but for many, specifically Black Americans, the road can be a place of repression, control, and lethal violence. Amani Willett, who teaches photography at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, joined us last spring to talk about his collection, "A Parallel Road," now available in its entirety as a book.

This program aired on March 8, 2022.
