Is it time for permanent Daylight Saving?

Happy "the car clock is right again" season to all who celebrate!

People all over the nation (excluding Arizona and Hawaii) lost an hour yesterday when Daylight Saving Time officially began.

There are some serious Daylight Saving haters out there. Not because they don't want the extra sunshine, but because of how the twice-yearly clock change throws off our lives, sleep, and so much more.

So in honor of sleepy Monday, we talk about two efforts to keep our clocks the same year-round: one local and one national.

First, we talk to Tom Emswiler, a Quincy-based health advocate who is also a de facto leader in the local effort to save Massachusetts from the dreaded time change.

Then we turn to Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, who is co-sponsoring a bill in Congress to move the entire country onto Daylight Saving Time permanently.

This segment aired on March 14, 2022.
