This is the Radio Boston rundown for July 21. Tiziana Dearing is our host:

  • Starbucks workers on Commonwealth Avenue in Brookline voted to unionize last month. Now, they're on strike, claiming the store manager is retaliating against pro-union employees. We'll talk with one of the workers about what they want, as well as a labor historian. The historian will help us understand how this strike fits in the larger labor movement.
  • Green crab has become an invasive species. But why? Alisha Lumea from GreenCrab.org tells us. Plus, a distiller from Tamworth Distilling Company shares what they're making with this abundance.
  • We revisit a conversation we had with Bill Sargent, an expert on horseshoe crabs, whose blood has become vital for human vaccines.

This program aired on July 21, 2022.
