New pilot program brings body cameras to the state's only maximum security prison

09:16

A portion of prison staff at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center will soon wear body cameras while on the job. Roughly 50 of the prison's 450 staffers will participate in the pilot, which is the first of its kind to begin inside the state's correctional facilities.

The body camera program also will eventually expand to other prisons and jails in the state. WBUR's Deborah Becker joins us to talk about the program.

This segment aired on December 6, 2022.
