It's the Fourth of July, and we're revisiting some of our most compelling conversations on United States history.

First this hour, we're talking about new laws in some states that limit discussions about race and Black history. Then, we're learning about an original play staged at Old North Church. Finally, we talk with writer Ibram X. Kendi and comics artist Joel Christian Gill about their collaboration on a graphic adaptation of Kendi's award-winning book "Stamped from the Beginning."

This program aired on July 4, 2023. The audio for this program is not available.
