A ballot petition filed by state Rep. Mike Connolly would allow Massachusetts cities and towns to impose rent control. The petition is sparking unease both within the real estate industry and from some rent control advocates.

The question cleared a key hurdle this week, securing certification from the state's attorney general.

We talk with Connolly to find what's next for the petition.
