2023 was a big year for labor. Several unions signed "historic" contracts. Meanwhile, some small business owners said they struggled without an adequate support system. As the new year begins, Massachusetts employers are still in a fierce competition for workers in a tight market.

Radio Boston reflects back on Massachusetts' business and labor in 2023 and looks ahead at important trends in 2024.

Brooke Thomson, CEO of Associated Industries of Massachusetts, Darlene Lombos, executive secretary-treasurer of the Greater Boston Labor Council, Tomás Gonzalez, director of community at Amplify LatinX and Jen Faigel, executive director of Commonwealth Kitchen, join the show to discuss.

This segment aired on January 2, 2024.
