House budget plan spends big on the T, funds shelter system at half of expected cost

A budget plan for the upcoming fiscal year released by the Massachusetts House Wednesday calls for nearly $200 million more in direct assistance to the MBTA than in the proposal put forth by Gov. Maura Healey last year. The House plan would also fund the emergency shelter system at $500 million, an increase over last fiscal year's budget but well short of the roughly $1 billion Healey's office says it'll take to keep the system afloat.
