He left a lucrative finance job to restore a 300-year-old Massachusetts home

14:41

Lee McColgan felt a calling. It was so loud, he quit his well-paying finance job to pursue it.

McColgan ended up with a 300-year-old home in Pembroke that needed a lot of work. He spent 18 months chiseling, hammering and sawing. Along the way, he learned techniques from master craftsmen. McColgan chronicled his journey of restoration and preservation in his new book, "A House Restored: The Tragedies and Triumphs of Saving a New England Colonial."

He recently discussed the project with WBUR's Radio Boston.

This segment aired on August 19, 2024.
