After failed ballot measure, is there any appetite left for raising tipped worker wages?
Tipped workers in Massachusetts will not get a raise to their base wage after a ballot measure failed this week.
WBUR's Radio Boston spoke to Katrina Jazayeri, co-owner of Juliet in Somerville, who supported the ballot measure. Her restaurant has been paying workers a high base wage since they opened more than eight years ago. Jazayeri said she's not surprised the ballot measure failed and hopes there could be more robust conversations about raising the minimum wage for tipped workers in the future.
