Fall River CEO warns Trump’s trade war is backfiring on U.S. factories

04:50

President Trump says new tariffs are meant to revitalize American manufacturing. But the CEO of a Fall River linen company says they are hurting his factory.

John Matouk & Co. relies on raw materials from India that the U.S. doesn’t produce. The company now faces a 50% tariff — upping its costs and threatening local jobs.

CEO George Matouk Jr. joins WBUR’s All Things Considered to discuss how the company is managing and what options they have going forward.

This segment aired on September 23, 2025.
