How federal policy changes may upend efforts to end homelessness in Mass.

04:35

People who work to end homelessness in Massachusetts are worried about a new Trump administration policy to require people to get mental health and addiction treatment and other services in order to qualify for housing. Advocates are also concerned the federal government wants to make the majority of those housing units temporary, not permanent.

Joyce Tavon heads the nonprofit Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance. She joined WBUR's All Things Considered to explain why she thinks the new requirements will upend a longtime policy that works.

This segment aired on November 14, 2025.
