Children have long been thought to be less susceptible to the coronavirus outbreak that has affected thousands of people in Massachusetts.

But a rare new condition that has hospitalized children throughout New England is raising questions about the lingering effects of COVID-19 on young people.

Dr. Jeffrey Burns, Chief of Critical Care at Boston Children's Hospital, spoke with WBUR's All Things Considered to give more details about the rare condition and how doctors are treating it.

This segment aired on May 13, 2020.
