Meghna Chakrabarti, host of On Point, joined vocal ensemble Blue Heron (winners of the 2018 Gramophone Classical Music Award for Early Music) for a conversation about their multimedia performances of Guillaume de Machaut’s "Remede de Fortune," a 14th-century poetic manual (with music) for finding happiness in the face of the suffering caused by outrageous, indifferent Fortune. A feast of poetry, song, dance and visual art animated by a surprisingly Zen-like philosophy.
The performances were a collaboration with Blue Heron and musicians from Cleveland's Le Délices. Chakrabarti discussed the project with Blue Heron director Scott Metcalfe and Le Délices director Debra Nagy. The rest of the ensemble was on hand as well, to perform live excerpts (with projections that incorporate images from the original manuscripts).
