Unemployment Claims Remain High But Continue Decline

Nearly 1.5 million more people have filed for unemployment last week, according to the Department of Labor. While still very high by historical standards, the number has been declining steadily from a peak of 6.8 million the week ending March 28.

In the last 14 weeks, 47 million have filed for unemployment. There are worries that many jobs won't come back and unemployment will remain elevated through the end of the year.
