This week, former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. pleaded guilty to 13 counts of first-degree murder in what became known as "The Golden State Killer" case.

The late true-crime reporter Michelle McNamara wrote about the case in her book, "I'll Be Gone in the Dark," which her husband, comedian Patton Oswalt, completed after her death. HBO also adapted the book into a documentary series. We revisit Robin Young's conversation with Oswalt about his wife's book.

This segment aired on July 1, 2020.
