In a normal year, more than 40,000 people run the London Marathon — but 2020 is not a normal year.

The pandemic has forced the cancelation of mass participant events like the marathons in Boston, Chicago and New York. But, London is staging a marathon this weekend in what officials call a bio-secure environment with only a few dozen runners.

Here & Now's Lisa Mullins speaks with Jared Ward, an American who made the trip to London to run.

This segment aired on October 2, 2020.
