WBUR Wins Nine PMJA Awards
WBUR won nine awards at the annual conference of the Public Media Journalism Association (PMJA), the most of any station in the country. Stations competed against others with similar-sized newsrooms for work done in calendar year 2020. Overall, judges reviewed nearly 1300 entries. Here's the list of WBUR honors:
- 1st place for Writing: 'Definitely Brings Some Hope': A Snow Day In The Middle Of A Pandemic
- 2nd place for Feature: A Community Theater Leader Disappears And Leaves A Trail Of Deception In His Wake
- 1st place for News Feature: Boston Police Working Overtime Still Do Not Wear Body Cameras, Despite City's Pledge A Year Ago
- 2nd place for Collaborative Effort: "Mass. Election Prep,” the newsletter course
- Dying On The Sheriff’s Watch won:
- 1st place for Investigative Reporting
- 2nd place for Multi-Media Presentation
- 2nd place for Series
- 1st place for Spot News
- 1st place for Breaking News: this award was for a 1-hour highlight reel (A newsroom-wide award, for the 24 hours of coverage surrounding the protests, including live breaking coverage Sunday night, newscasts, Morning Edition, Radio Boston and All Things Considered.)
