Mayor-elect Michelle Wu has announced her transition team as she prepares to take office in just a week.

Acting Mayor Kim Janey will serve as honorary chair. Janey has held the office since former Mayor Marty Walsh vacated it to join President Biden's cabinet in March. She was the first-ever woman and person of color to lead the city.

Joining Janey as co-chairs will be former state Rep. Charlotte Golar Richie, former Massachusetts Secretary of Administration and Finance Jay Gonzalez and community activist Noemi Ramos.

The committee is also made up of transition advisors, who are:

  • Julian Agyeman, Tufts University professor
  • Dana Alas, 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East organizing director
  • Shawn Brown, executive director of the youth program Becoming a Man in Boston
  • Joe Bryne, executive secretary-treasurer of the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters
  • Ali Fong, chef and cofounder of Bon Me restaurants
  • Trish Fontanilla, head of community for Simplr, a customer service outsourcing company
  • The Rev. Arlene Hall, pastor at Deliverance Temple Worship Center in Dorchester
  • José Massó, host of WBUR's ¡Con Salsa! (Editor's note: José Massó has been the music host since 1975 of WBUR's ¡Con Salsa!, which is independent of the local WBUR newsroom that covers City Hall.)
  • Marcus McNeil, student at Fenway High School
  • Cassandra Pierre, medical director of public health programs at Boston Medical Center and assistant professor at Boston University
  • Micho Spring, board chair of Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce; chair of Weber Shandwick Global Corporate Practice, a corporate reputation management company
  • Kannan Thiruvengadam, climate activist and director of Eastie Farm
  • Mitchell Weiss, Harvard Business School professor of management practice

Wu said in a statement that she is grateful to the committee members for sharing wisdom and insight as she prepares to take office.

“This group represents just the beginning of our work to uplift bold solutions to the biggest challenges that await us, and to enlist community in the work of making them a reality," she said. "Their expertise and lived experiences are a reflection of the possibility and promise of our city, and I’m honored to have their partnership engaging residents across the city in these early days.”

Wu also announced her official transition website Tuesday.
