What do you do if you're an artist who has been coined "America's next generation of female talent," shared the stage with artists like Gladys Knight and Talib Kweli, and are offered a major record label deal?

If you're Shea Rose, you turn it down. The local singer-songwriter has taken a step back from the conventional route to stardom and is now in the middle of releasing her new, independent EP, "D.T.M.A."

She's released two singles from the EP so far, including "Do I Really Wanna Be? (A Rock Star)" and "Forcin' It."
