Officials are now reporting the driver in the terror attack in Lower Manhattan had been planning his attack for weeks. He also appears to have ties to terror suspects.

We've also begun to hear about the timeline. The driver rented a truck from Home Depot in New Jersey at 2:06. Less than an hour later, at 3:04, he drove the truck into the bike and pedestrian path, leaving at least eight people are dead and at least 11 injured.

We've learned one of those wounded is Newton resident Martin Marro, a scientist at Novartis.

We talk more about the measures that have been put in place to stop these type of attacks, and what's still needed.

Guest

Daniel Linskey, former superintendent-in-chief of the Boston Police Department, 27-year veteran of the force and the managing director in Kroll's Investigations and Disputes practice. He tweets @chieflinskey.

This segment aired on November 1, 2017.
