From Jackie Robinson, to Adam Jones, to Torii Hunter, there's a long history of allegations of racism against the Red Sox organization and its fans.

On Wednesday night, the team issued a statement acknowledging racist incidents with fans and revealed there were 7 reported incidents of fans using racist slurs at Fenway Park last year.

The Red Sox said, "those are just the ones we know about."

We discuss with Howard Bryant, senior writer for ESPN, sports correspondent for NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, and author of nine books including "Shut Out: A Story of Race and Baseball in Boston."

This segment aired on June 11, 2020.
