Living Through Corona: Organizing A Turkey Drive In A Pandemic
Thanksgiving is one of the most important days of the year for Daphne Lopes, because it allows her to serve.
Many of us will have very little for the holiday, let alone an abundant feast. Having once stood in line to receive a free Thanksgiving turkey, Daphne now volunteers each year doing turkey distribution with Catholic Charities.
We talked with Daphne for the first time on Radio Boston last year, as she was preparing for the big turkey distribution weekend. It was such a different time — she came in studio wearing a big stuffed turkey on her head -- a hat that's made her famous on the turkey line.
But it's a new year, and we wanted to check in with her again now, as part of our series, Living Through Corona.
