The world of Massachusetts politics is abuzz today.

First, emergency room doctor and state rep Jon Santiago pulled the plug and ended his run for mayor of Boston. His exit leaves five major candidates - four of them women - to court voters just two months before the preliminary election.

And at the state level, there's even more trouble within the state GOP, as major donors have reportedly given party leaders an ultimatum: get rid of Chair Jim Lyons or they'll cut off their donations.

Lisa Kashinsky, a reporter for Poltico and the author of the Massachusetts Playbook, joins us to talk through the headlines.

This segment aired on July 13, 2021.
