What a week on Capitol Hill.

Kevin McCarthy was ousted as a speaker on Tuesday following the passage of a stopgap spending bill on Sunday that averted a government shutdown, with local delegates like Katherine Clark and Jim McGovern playing key roles. The House of Representatives won't meet again until Oct. 10., and the possibility of a government shutdown could rear its head again in a matter of weeks.

Meanwhile, Massachusetts state leaders are turning up the pressure on Washington over migrant housing and support.

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts' 7th District joined Radio Boston to talk about the scene in Washington, D.C., followed by reaction from Boston Globe politics reporter James Pindell and Mia McCarthy of Politico.

This segment aired on October 6, 2023.
