It's hard to forget last winter, especially if you were one of the many Boston-area commuters affected by the MBTA's weather-related service issues.

But this winter, the T says it is prepared. It spent $85 million on new rails and snow removal equipment, and it says customers can expect better service this winter.

WBUR's Jack Lepiarz, who covered the embattled transportation system's performance and changes this year, reviews what happened for Morning Edition, as well as what T officials say commuters can expect in the new year.

This segment aired on December 23, 2015.
