Everyone Seems After Mayor Walsh's Job
ResumeBoston is likely to have its first open mayoral seat since 2013. Marty Walsh is expected to be confirmed as President-elect Biden's Labor Secretary early in Biden's term.
Boston City Councilors Michelle Wu and Andrea Campbell declared their candidacies already, but they could have a lot of company. We hear from Stephanie Murray, author of the Politico Massachusetts Playbook and co-host of The Horse Race podcast.
Regardless of how the race shapes out, Walsh's initial replacement will be City Council President Kim Janey. She would be the first woman and the first person of color in the role.
She would also be the first mother in the role, as former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift points out in WBUR's Cognoscenti. Swift was at one point the highest-profile working mother in the country and recounts lessons learned for Janey and the press.
