Preliminary elections are underway in more than a dozen cities and towns across the Commonwealth today.

In Newton, voters are going to the polls to vote for mayor. And in Boston, the five major candidates for mayor are spreading out across the city, making their final pitches to voters.

We hear an update from WBUR's Simon Rios from Florian Hall in Dorchester and then from Massachusetts Secretary of State Bill Galvin.
