Fall River Mayor Announces Leave Of Absence, Says He Will Keep Title And Salary

Embattled Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia announced today that he is forgoing his reelection campaign and taking a leave of absence. This comes as he faces two federal indictments on charges such as fraud, bribery and extortion.

Correia is handing over his responsibilities as mayor to the president of the Fall River City Council, and says he will keep his title as mayor and his $119,000 annual salary until his term ends in January.
